With the property market showing a rise for the first time in months people may once again be considering shall i sell my house or improve it. With many still not sure how the market is going to swing I thought I would look at the centre piece or heart to any house the Kitchen. Whether you have a fitted kitchen a bespoke handmade kitchen or an individually chosen number of kitchen units, the area needs to be the best for you.

It may appear like small things but anything that you feel doesn’t work for you should be noted down and set aside ready for when you really do begin kitchen planning. A kitchen when laid out properly makes working within it a real pleasure rather than having the normal conflicts of not being able to stand somewhere without being in the way. By ensuring that a kitchen has spaces within it that people can chill in and at the same time refining the work spaces to work more intuitively can make all the difference to this most central of hubs.

Fitted kitchens should only be purchased if you know that the person selling you that particular style of kitchen knows how a kitchen should work and that some things will work and other things dont. From the cooker itself there should be a very defined working triangle that provides you space to prepare food, a space to cook the food and a space to wash and dispose of the scraps and preparation cast off’s. Any job that you do is easier if you have the correct tools to do it with, in this way you can ensure that any jobs you do in the kitchen can either be quick ones or just long extended enjoyable experiences.

For myself with most fitted kitchens I have done any cooking in the main downfall I have found with them is that they are frequently really hard to negotiate around. Making it very difficult to work fluidly and in some instances safely, we have a little lad and you need a space to be safe so that any children aren’t tripped over or stood on or worse have something spilt on them. Design can always make sure that things like this don’t happen with the addition of separate areas you can make sure you have a space that can be just for eating and an area you can separate off with a simple gate to make sure you can work safely. I hope this is article is of use my name is David Harland.
